The inaugural Invest Kenya Golf Tournament (IKGT) has been launched in Nairobi at the Muthaiga Golf Club, with an estimated 200 players on board, and will tee off on March 27, 2026, at the same venue.
Speaking on Thursday during its launch, Dennis Mwirigi, the Chairman of Muthaiga Golf Club, welcomed Invest Kenya and partners to the Club, saying that this historical event expects 200 Players Including Corporate Leaders and Professional Golfers, to tee off, a new fixture to Kenya’s golf calendar.
“Muthaiga Golf Club has hosted over 95% of the Magical Kenya Open tournaments historically. The Club has played a significant role in promoting Kenya’s image globally through golf, " quipped Mwirigi.
"Hosting investors at the Club marks a milestone in aligning sports with national investment objectives. The Invest Kenya Golf Tournament adds an important new fixture to Kenya’s golf ecosystem and reinforces Kenya’s position as one of Africa’s leading golf destinations.”
The tournament, which will be played in a Stableford format, is expected to attract approximately 200 players, including local and international corporate players and selected professional golfers from Kenya’s expanding golf scene.
The tournament is being introduced as a strategic event of the Kenya International Investment Conference (KIICO 2026) and will serve as the sport’s contribution to the conference week, creating an environment where competition, networking, and national visibility intersect.
Beyond competition, the event contributes to golf development in Kenya by introducing a new high-visibility tournament that broadens participation, creates exposure for local players, and strengthens the link between corporate, amateur, and professional golf.
While Invest Kenya intends the tourney to hopefully become a recurring annual event, strengthening Kenya’s golf calendar and supporting the country’s continued emergence as a leading golf destination, the closing awards ceremony will mark the official close of KIICO week, bringing together players, sponsors, and stakeholders in a final moment of recognition and celebration.
